The Law of Fortune Credit for Nations
The Law of Fortune Credit not only applies to individuals, it also applies to a nation or a country. If a nation or a country has positive Fortune Credit, its economy will prosper and its people will have good times; if a nation or country has negative Fortune Credit, its economy will fall and people will suffer economic difficulty and nature disasters. Sometimes the country may be attacked or invaded by foreign countries or involved in civil wars or ethnic conflicts; and its people will suffer even more during the time of wars and conflicts.
1. The Fortune Credit of the Nation
The Fortune Credit of a nation or country is decided by two factors, the Fortune Credit of the leader and government and the Common Fortune Credit of the majority of people. The Fortune Credit of the leader and government depends on how they treat God and how they treat people, including both their own people and the people of other nations or ethnic backgrounds. And the Common Fortune Credit of the people is based on the faith and deed of the majority of the people. But the Fortune Credit of a nation or a country is not the “AND” logic of these two factors, but the “OR” logic of these two factors. If either one of these two Fortune Credits turns negative, the Fortune Credit of the nation will turn negative. Only when both the Fortune Credit of the leader and government and the Common Fortune Credit of the people are positive will the nation or country be blessed by God with peace and prosperity.
In the past, when the leader of the nation or country had the absolute power over people, the Fortune Credit of the country would be decided mostly by the Fortune Credit of the leader. For example, in the Bible, when King David followed the word of God and did good things, the Israeli nation was blessed to become bigger and stronger. But when King David did something wrong, the misfortune came and Israelis suffered the pestilence among them (1 Chronicles 21). When the later kings of Israel betrayed the Lord and did some wicked things, Israel was invaded by enemies, broken apart by rebellions and its people were even captured and taken away as slaves by gentiles. The negative Fortune Credit of the leaders ruined the Fortune Credit of the whole nation.
In the twentieth century, the leaders of the communist countries also had the absolute power over people as communism turned into totalitarianism. When they denied God and required people to worship the leader as the Father or the Savior of the World, their negative Fortune Credit of blasphemy led to disasters for the people in the communist countries, and eventually to the breakdown of their own governments.
It’s the same thing with Iraq. When Saddam Hussein has absolute power over the Iraqi people, his aggression against other Muslim nations also brought big disasters to Iraq. When the leader and government had great control of people’s minds and religions, the Fortune Credit of the leader and government would definitely have a deep impact on the nation’s Fortune Credit.
When people have more influence over the leader, the common Fortune Credit of people will have a major impact on the Fortune Credit of the nation. In the Bible Exodus 31, when Moses went to see the Lord on Mount Sinai, Israelis made a gold calf for themselves as their god. And then the punishment of God came despite the positive Fortune Credit of Moses as their leader. When the people of Israel complained about the Lord again and again, the Lord finally decided to let most of them wander and die in the wilderness without entering the promised land of Canaan. Even Moses died in the desert before Israelis entered the promise land.
In the early 60’s, when some Americans denied God and filed lawsuits to ban the praying and Bible reading in public schools, a whole generation of young Americans abandoned the Word of God to follow their own desires. Then the misfortune happened. One president was assassinated; another president was forced to resign. Americans were dragged into the war in Vietnam with nothing to gain. The stock market also fell into nineteen years of stagnancy while inflation and crime skyrocketed. The common Fortune Credit of the majority of people can decide the Fortune Credit of the nation when people have more influence on the nation, especially in those democratic countries in the world. Liberty without God is like freedom without law, which will lead to nowhere but misfortune and disaster.
Therefore, for a nation or a country to be blessed with peace and prosperity, it is very important for both leaders and people to have positive Fortune Credit. The Fortune Credit of the nation is very similar to the Fortune Credit of an individual, but on a larger scale with the combined Fortune Credits of both leaders and the general public. Those nations with positive Fortune Credit will be blessed by God, and those with negative Fortune Credit will face misfortune and disaster. This is the Law of Fortune Credit from God for all nations.
2. The “Rod of Iron” That Rules All Nations
The Law of Fortune Credit for the Nations is prophesied as God’s “Rod of Iron” that rules all nations in Revelation 12:5, disregarding their faiths or religions. It is the judgment from God against the following ten negative Fortune Credits for nations:

2) Mass Raping against Women of Other Nations or Ethnicities
3) Ethnic Conflicts & Hatred
4) Separatism & Nationalism
5) Religious Intolerance
6) Blasphemy against God

1) Mass Killing of Unarmed Civilians and Captives
During war, casualties are normally unavoidable. But killing unarmed civilians and captives is very inhuman and can cause huge negative Fortune Credit, which can lead to misfortune and disaster for a nation.
Before and during World War II, Hitler killed over six millions Jews in Germany. They were all unarmed civilians. This huge negative Fortune Credit caused huge misfortune for Germans. Germany was once the center of top scientists in the world. But after Hitler started to persecute Jewish scientists, most of the top scientists left Germany. In the later stages of World War II, both the United States and Germany were working on the nuclear bomb. If Hitler had made the nuclear bomb first, the results of World War II could be rewritten. But because of the huge negative Fortune Credit of the mass killing of unarmed civilians, Germany failed in its attempts to create nuclear weapon and was finally defeated. Most cities of Germany were also destroyed. Millions of German soldiers became gun-ash and paid the price of this misfortune with their lives.
The same thing also happened to Japan during World War II. Japanese armies also killed countless unarmed civilians and captives in other Asian countries. They even used the captives of wars as experiments for their germ weapons. In the end, they were also defeated and became the first victims of the atomic bomb.
In the contrary, the United States did a good thing in the War against Terror in Afghanistan. At first, most people were afraid that the war in Afghanistan could drag on for years, like what the Soviet Unions had done in Afghanistan before. But American troops did the right thing by dropping food and aid packages first to help the Afghan people while attacking Taliban armies. That’s part of Heavenly Love: “Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you.” That’s what God likes to see. Therefore, God blessed America and caused the sudden collapse of the Taliban. The war was soon ended and the Taliban regime was overthrown. How you treat the civilians of other nations will decide the Fortune Credit of your own nation.
Currently, some religious extremists used terrorist attacks against civilians, women, and children of other nations. They thought they could use terrorist attacks to achieve their goals. They are wrong. Terrorist attacks against civilians of other nations will only cause more negative Fortune Credit and misfortune for their own people. When terrorists attacked Israeli civilians, they caused the death of more Palestinians in retaliation. There are no “seventy-two virgins” in heaven for those suicide bombers, but the judgment from God/Allah for the blood of civilians is on their hands.
When Israeli soldiers killed Palestinian civilians, especially some children, they also caused negative Fortune Credit for their people too. With the military advantage they have, Israeli soldiers should be more careful to avoid any civilian casualties. Terrorist attacks and retaliations against unarmed civilians are big sins in the eyes of God, which will only cause negative Fortune Credit and disasters for their own people.
Another case of this negative Fortune Credit is Al Qaeda’s attack on American civilians. When Al Qaeda terrorists attacked American civilians on “Sept. 11”, they not only caused huge disaster for themselves, but also caused the collapse of their protector, the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Anyone who supports or protects those terrorists who attack and kill the civilians of other nations will share the negative Fortune Credit and judgment from God with them. For God is the most merciful; He will not tolerate these kinds of crimes against unarmed civilians.
2) Mass Raping against Women of Other Nations or Ethnicities
Raping women is a serious sin in the eye of God and the mass raping of women of other nations or ethnic groups is a huge negative Fortune Credit for the nation. During World War II, Japanese soldiers committed the horrific sin of mass rape in different cities in China and other Asian countries; the most infamous one is the Mass Raping and Killing in Nanjing, the former capital of Republic of China. For this negative Fortune Credit, Japan became the first victim of the nuclear bomb. Both Germany and Japan had the negative Fortune Credit of mass killing of unarmed civilians during the World War II, but Japan had one more big negative Fortune Credit for the mass raping of women of other countries. Therefore, at the end of World War II, Japan suffered more than Germany for their extra negative Fortune Credit. If Hitler had also made nuclear bombs, then the first nuclear bomb could have hit Germany instead of Japan. But at the end of the war, God spared Germany from the nuclear bomb and let Japan pay the price for its extra negative Fortune Credit of mass raping of women.
After World War II, both Germany and Japan kept their agreement not to expand their armies and develop nuclear weapons. So both of them recovered quickly and once again became world economical powers. But unlike Germans who can bravely face their history and admit the mistakes of the Nazis, the Japanese government tried to deny the fact of the atrocities and damages they had caused to their neighboring countries. That hurt the Fortune Credit of their own nation. That’s why now Western and Eastern Germany are united and kept strong, while Japan has fallen into economic recession for over ten years and still can’t get the northern four islands back from Russia. For God is justice, no one can hide his mistakes from God. Only repentance for past mistakes can regain the forgiveness and blessing from God.
In the Bosnia conflict between 1991 and 1995, the Serbian soldiers and militias also committed mass raping against Muslim women in Bosnia. It was an organized crime against the women of other ethnic groups. They also killed thousands of unarmed civilians in that area. The government tried to cover these atrocities and let the criminals go unpunished. This caused big negative Fortune Credit for the whole nation. So, Yugoslavia was bombed in 1999 and the former leaders were indicted in the International War Crimes Tribunal in Hague. When the government tolerates or cover up the crime of mass rape, the whole nation will share the negative Fortune Credit and its consequence.
In 1995, Indonesia had organized mass rape against women of Chinese ethnicity in Indonesia, and the government also tried to cover this kind of crime and left those criminals unpunished. A little girl who was ready to testify in the United Nations was even brutally raped and tortured to death. How could people expect such a brutal crime against women and little girls to be covered for too long? When the government tried to cover up this kind of crime against women without justice, God will carry out the judgment against the whole nation.
In 1997, the judgment came. Indonesia was thrown into the big financial crisis that wiped out more than two thirds of the wealth in Indonesia, and the whole society fell into chaos. In 1998, the president who shielded the criminals of the 1995 mass raping was forced to step down after 30 years of presidency and soon died in disgrace. His successor, who was the vice president at the time of that crime, didn’t last more than a year. In 1999, God also took East Timor away from Indonesia and it went independent. But during the time of the East Timor Referendum, Indonesian Special forces and militias committed more crimes of mass killing of civilians in East Timor. If these criminals are left unpunished, the negative Fortune Credit will cause more misfortunes for Indonesia in the future. Because God is watching, no one can cover up his sins in front of God. Anytime the people of one nation attack the people or sexually assault the women of other nations or ethnicities, the misfortune for this nation won’t be far away.
Some governments may have the power to overrun their neighbors or cover up the criminals, but there is no crime that can be concealed from God. And there is no worldly power that can be compared to the power of God. All the negative Fortune Credit people create through hurting other people will eventually cause misfortune for their own people. For God is justice and mercifulness. Any crime against women of minority will not be left unpunished.
3) Ethnic Conflicts, Racial Discrimination & Hatred
In recent years, there have been many ethnic conflicts in different areas in the world. These ethnic conflicts caused too much bloodshed among peoples. That is not what God likes to see. As communication and transportation become much easier for people in the world, this world is gradually turning into a big village for everyone. People should learn what Jesus said: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This world will be much more peaceful if people can use love and forgiveness to replace hatred and revenge in their heart. Ethnic conflicts were mostly caused by hatred and revenge among different ethnic groups. They will ruin the Fortune Credit of the country or area that had the ethnic conflicts.
Yugoslavia was once the most prosperous countries among the communist/socialist countries when people from different ethnic groups could live peacefully and work together. However, after Tito died, some ambitious politicians used nationalism to inspire hatred among different ethnic groups for their political gains. The conflict totally ruined the country and turned the once prosperous country into a living hell. Now the Yugoslavia no longer exists as it was.
Zimbabwe is also an example of the negative Fortune Credit of ethnic conflicts and racial discrimination. Zimbabwe was once the largest agricultural country in Africa. But after a new president came to power, he incited hatred and persecution against the white minority in the country and openly encouraged black people to take way white farmers’ land and personal properties. The hatred and racial discrimination caused huge amount the negative Fortune Credit for the nation and shortly the nation fell into natural disasters and economic collapse.
The similar ethnic conflicts and racial discrimination also happened in Kashmir, Middle East and Africa. When people are controlled by hatred and thoughts of revenge, they ruin their own Fortune Credit and cause misfortune for their own people. When some people use military attacks or suicide bombers to kill the people of other ethnic groups or religious background, they caused negative Fortune Credit and bad karma for themselves, which will eventually hurt their own people through some serious misfortune and disasters.
God likes to see people living peacefully together, not fighting against each other because of ethnic, racial or religious differences. One of the main reasons that the United States of America is blessed as the most prosperous country in the world is because of the ethnic harmony in this country. All the ethnic groups can live peacefully together. And every person has an equal right guaranteed by the Constitution, no matter what his ethnic background is. That’s the positive Fortune Credit for the nation, which leads to more blessings from God. Those nations that have racial discrimination and ethnic conflicts will be punished by God with natural disasters and economic hardship.
4) Separatism & Nationalism
The more severe consequence of ethnic or religious conflicts is separatism & civil wars. That will cause big disasters and massive blood shed between different ethnic groups or different religious groups. For example, the separation between India and Pakistan after 1947 caused about a million deaths. And now separatism has turned into nationalism, which kept causing more troubles for the area. With the dispute of Kashmir, two nations could face another war with the potential of major nuclear disaster.
Most of time Separatism is just the tool used by those ambitious leaders to grab more power, not something good for the interests of the people. But people are like herds, blinded by the zeal of separatism or nationalism and driven by those ambitious political leaders, and eventually they paid the price for their leaders’ ambition.
The former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia were good examples of the negative Fortune Credit of separatism and nationalism. After the failure of the communist system, those political leaders didn’t try to work together to improve the situation for people, but tried to grab more power by breaking up the country for their own gains. So these two countries broke into different ethnically separated countries. It led to more wars and blood shed for the nations and caused more misfortune for people. And the economy also fell apart. Just like what Jesus said: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined; and a house divided against itself will fall.” (Luke 11:17)
On December 26, 2004, a 9.0 undersea earthquake triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coast of Indian Ocean in the South Asia. The four most damaged nations, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand had lost over 200,000 lives combined. Many people have wondered why God let this kind of disasters happened. But they may not notice that all these four nations had the same negative Fortune Credit of separatism in their countries. Indonesia has Aceh Separatism movement, Sri Lanka has Tamil Tiger Independence movement, India has Kashmir separation movement and Thailand has South Thailand Muslim separation movement. These are the negative Fortune Credit or bad karma for the nations, which will eventually lead to more disasters for their countries. These disasters can come either in the form of wars and conflicts or in the form of natural disasters. This disaster is just another proof of what Jesus said, “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined (laid waste, KJV).” When a nation has this kind of negative Fortune Credit or bad karma, disasters are bound to happen.
Separatism is usually inspired by egoism and nationalism. They are the poisons that blind people with their ego and ignorance. Most of the time people rejected the Word of God just because of their ego and bigotry under the name of nationalism. It hurt the interest of the nation because it blocked people from the blessing of God through the Word of God and sometimes even caused blasphemy against God. That is a huge negative Fortune Credit for the nation, which will lead to even big loss and misfortune for the country.
Now God giving this New Millennium Testament is for people of all nations to love each other and live peacefully with each other like a big family. Those nations that can hold up together with ethnic harmony and religious freedom will be greatly blessed by God for peace and prosperity. Those political leaders who use separatism for their personal gains will be judged by God for the misfortunes and tragedies they had caused for their people.
5) Religious Intolerance
Religious intolerance has hampered progress in human history for a long time. As all people in the world are children of God, God had taught His children different religions in different part of the world. Not all religions are equal, but those major religions that have passed the test of time over thousands of years do contain the Word of God for people. The negative Fortune Credit of religious intolerance is caused by the rejection and blasphemy of the Word of God in other religions. When people had no tolerance for other people’s religion, they lost the opportunity to learn the Word of God in other religions. That’s why religious intolerance always had a negative impact on human progress.
The Middle Age in Europe is a good example of the negative effect of the Fortune Credit of religious intolerance. During the Middle Age in Europe, people were zealous about their own religion and intolerant to other religions. They even can’t tolerate different denominations or interpretations within the same religion. Millions of people were killed due to religious persecution, conflicts and wars. Even the scientists who believed the Earth moving around the Sun would be arrested or burn to death. The result of religious extremism was zero or little progress in science and stagnancy in the economy. Famine and plagues became frequent phenomena in Europe and the majority of people lived in poverty. That’s why the Middle Age of Europe was referred to as the “Dark Age” in European history.
After the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, people opened up their minds to different thoughts in both scientific and religious aspects. The development and progress of human society has been tremendous ever since. When people have tolerance and share the Word of God with each other, they have broader views and a better understanding on the Word of God, thus bring more blessings from God. When the religious restriction on science was lifted, more new discoveries were found, which also helped people correct some misunderstandings on the Word of God. That’s why religious tolerance is vital for both scientific and spiritual development.
The religious tolerance is also one of the reasons that United States of America was blessed to be the most prosperous country in the world. Although the United States was first established by Christian pilgrims, all religionists have the equal right and freedom to practice their religions in the United States of America. That’s the positive Fortune Credit for this nation. Off course, with the religious freedom, there were also some new and extreme religions, like some satanic religions, arising to deceive people. But they will not pass the test of time and they could not outlast the true religions from the Word of God, as long as people can use both scriptures and history as the test stone for the Word of God. The Word of God has the power to defeat those satanic influences once people see the big picture of it.
Currently there is a big problem of religious intolerance in Islamic countries. Many of them do not allow people to learn the gospel of Jesus. This hurts the Fortune Credit for Islamic countries, for the teaching of Jesus is the Second Phase of Word of God and carries the great power of blessing from God. Those who rejected, like Jews, had suffered for a long time without the blessing of God. But this is just the historical learning curve on the Word of God that most nations had to go through. As Islam started about six hundred years behind Christianity, there is a “six-hundred-year” delay in this learning curve. What is happening in the Islamic countries now is similar to what happened in Christian countries six hundred years ago. The governments of most Islamic countries have no tolerance for different religions. That’s the same mistake made by Christians during the “Dark Age”.
In the first few hundred years of the Islamic movement, most Muslims leaders had toleration for Christians and Jews because they knew that Moses and Jesus were also the prophets of Allah. For their tolerance and respect for other religions of God, they were blessed with the “Golden Age” of the Abbasid Dynasty, while Europe fell into the “Dark Age” due to their lack of tolerance. But after the conflicts with Christians starting from the last millennium, Muslims also became intolerant against Christians and even claimed the Bible as corrupted. That was the time when they started to loss the blessing from God.
After the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, Christians finally realized the importance of religious tolerance. That’s the time Christian countries started to regain the blessing of God and became stronger and stronger. Muslims should learn the lesson from Christian history and be more tolerant to other religions of God. Religious tolerance and interfaith communication can help people have a better understanding of the Word of God and bring more blessings of God to people.
6) Blasphemy against God
Blasphemy against God is even worse than religious intolerance. Some people deny God because of ignorance and lack of a scientific method to prove the existence of God at this time. But some people deny God because of self-pride and self-exaltation. These are the people most likely being distracted by Satan to blaspheme against God. And the result is always woeful due to the huge negative Fortune Credit of blasphemy against God.
In the early twentieth century, there was a big movement across the world – Communism Movement. Communism used the concepts of “equally sharing and unselfishness” to attract almost one third of the population of the world. These concepts and the moral education in communism are all good teachings, similar to the Word of God in all major religions. But what lay behind this beautiful cover is Satan’s plot to use the Word of God to attract people and then lead them to betray and deny God. Hundred of thousands of young idealist people fell into this trap and eventually became the victims themselves.
After communist armies took the power, Satan began to show its claws. It first fired up people’s ego and let people deny and blaspheme against God. Then it started to persecute all religions of God as superstitions and require people to worship their leaders instead of worshiping God. These were all the sin of blasphemy, which would definitely lead to punishment from God. Disaster after disaster, misfortune after misfortune, most communist countries fell into economic stagnancy. People started to suffer in poverty, and the utopian dream of an “equally and commonly shared society” turned into the nightmare of an “equally poor and totalitarian society”. Many of the communists also became the victims in the ruthless political struggles within the communist parties. That’s the consequence of the negative Fortune Credit of blasphemy against God.
Now most communist countries have either abandoned communism or merged with capitalism after the Cold War, but the negative Fortune Credit and misfortunes caused by blasphemy did not end with it. Most former communist countries still struggled after they abandoned communism and embraced capitalism. The success of the Western countries was not just because of their political system or capitalism, but also because of the faith in God in their traditions. When they lose their faith in God, they will also face the misfortune of recessions. Currently, among all the former communist countries, only China does well because more and more Chinese people, especially business people, turn their faith to Buddha or Christ. People in other former communist countries should learn the faith in God to get more blessings from God, and learn the lesson from their former generations not to blaspheme against God. Otherwise, the negative Fortune Credit of blasphemy will keep hurting the nation.
Blasphemy is not only a common negative Fortune Credit for those who deny God, but also for some religious fundamentalists who have no tolerance for other religions of God. That’s the main cause of religious conflicts and wars. Before people see the complete picture of the Word of God for both East and West, there is always some misunderstanding or miscommunication between different religions. When people deny or belittle the God of other major religions of God and ignore the historical testimony, there is a very high chance they are blaspheming the same God they are worshiping. And that sin of blasphemy will surely leads to misfortune or even disasters.
When Christians denied and blasphemed against Allah and the prophet Muhammad in Islam, Europe fell into the Dark Age for almost one thousand years. When Muslims denied and forbade the teachings of Jesus and Christianity, Muslim countries also fell into wars, conflicts, and poverty for almost one thousand years. When Muslim armies destroyed all the Buddha’s Temples in India, the once glorious Abbasid Dynasty was ended by the invasion of Mongolians. When the Taliban blasted away the Buddha’s statues in Afghanistan, they were also bombed and overthrown six months later. When Hindus burned down more than twenty Christian churches in Gujarat, India, the great earthquake claimed 20,000 lives in that province.
The negative Fortune Credit of blasphemy against God is significant, even for people who claim to be faithful to their God. Just like a child who calls his own brother as the “son of devil”, he will surely be punished by his father for he is blaspheming against their common father. That’s why it is very important to have religious tolerance toward other major religions of God that have passed the test of time. Not every religion is one hundred percent correct and there is always some human misinterpretation on the Word of God in most religions. But if people use some human mistakes in other religions to deny the God who gave the revelation, then the sin of blasphemy will definitely cause some serious consequence for them.
7) Oppression against People
As the blasphemy against God has negative Fortune Credit, oppression against people also carries negative Fortune Credit. Because all people are children of God, oppression against people is oppression against God. Jesus once told a story about the reward and judgment of the King. The King told those people to be rewarded that they are blessed because they fed him when he was hungry, and gave him something to drink when he was thirsty, and helped him when he needed help. And those people didn’t know when they did these good things. Then the King told them, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me… whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” (Matthew 25:34-45)
That’s the same way God will reward or judge the nation. If a government loves its people and puts people’s interests first, this nation will be blessed and the government will be blessed too. If a government oppresses its people, it will cause negative Fortune Credit for the government, which will lead to misfortune for the nation.
About twenty-four hundred years ago, a famous Confucian scholar in China, Meng Zi, pointed out the right way to govern the country: “People the First, Nation the Second and King the Last”, which put the interest of the people above the interest of the nation and emperor. Unfortunately, not too many leaders in the history of China liked this idea. But that is one of the major secrets for the nation to get blessings from God.
Two thousand years later, a new nation and government “of the people, by the people, for the people” was finally born on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. The United States does put the interest of people first, then the interest of the nation, and finally the interest of the president, which is the least important among all as the president can be changed every four to eight years. Although Americans make mistakes from time to time, that concept of “of the people, by the people, for the people” and its people’s faith in God are the great positive Fortune Credit for the nation to get the blessings from God.
If a government only cares about its own power and interests and doesn’t care about its people’s interest or treats its people brutally, this government will lose the blessings from God and it will not last long. The Taliban government in Afghanistan is a good example in this case. The leaders of the Taliban supposedly were very devoted to God; they read the Quran and prayed to Allah everyday.
